Lawyers should be opinionated and have a voice #lawyerslife

Lawyers disagree over issues. They debate. They argue, and they make each other mad sometimes. But they have an opinion they are not afraid to share. That's admirable. Even if I don't agree with someone I respect what he or she has to say. I may be aggressive or harsh at times, but that's out of passion and a desire to make this a better country.

I care about fighting for my clients and helping people. When something gets in the way of those two objectives I can get aggressive and belligerent, but that's being a lawyer.

#MiamiPolice delay traffic for hours to make three arrests #keystonecops

This isn't Miami Vice. I'm amazed how many thousands of cars were delayed so the Miami Police Department could make a few meaningless arrests. Of course they arrested three black guys with seven cop cars and sixteen cops. Don't have anything better to do?

#ChickenTrump is not lawyer-like

Lawyers engage in debate. They don't shy away from debates unlike Donald Trump, who is too afraid to debate Bernie Sanders. But when you have nothing to argue you don't want to debate. Donald Trump isn't a debater or public speaker. He is a brute who shouts, like Vladimir Putin, Vladamir Lenin, Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hilter to name a few. He's a disaster and a monster.

#BillCosby to stand trial for alleged 2004 sexual encounter

This is the next big mega trial if it ever goes to trial, and it appears it will. He will likely not get convicted because the evidence is so old. The case is so old, but you never know. Rape cases are very, very difficult for the prosecution to prove. I'm surprised they were able to get him on anything, but the SOL came back to bite him in the ass here because it didn't run.

I hope they nail the guy.

Glad to help Winston-Salem Police set up their foundation #lawyerslife

#FreddieGray killer acquitted (#EdwardNero) #BlackLivesMatter

It has happened once again. I hope some of the other officers will be convicted. Freddie Gray died in the back of a police cruiser after being beaten. This kind of police violence is unacceptable, and the stupid judges keep acquitting these police officers because they are police officers and these poor kids happen to be black.

This should make all Americans feel ashamed.

#micropoetry "Even more useless"

A slug who is inert is
more useless than one
who moves on a layer of slime.
But still worthless.
And you are the slug
always preparing to move.
So you don't move
yet want to be rewarded
for doing nothing.
All you do is nothing.
Nothing will be your reward then.

#TedOlson joints legal team to fight #HB2

Former Solictor Ted Olson joined the fight against HB2 in federal court. The law will be struck down as unconstitutional. Glad to know he's on the legal team. It must be a bitter pill to proponents of the law.

#micropoetry "No blobs"

No blobs today.
Or blots either.
But that doesn't mean
they are gone.
Shapeless things can
take form
and block the way.
But then you can
blot them out.

#GeorgeZimmerman selling the gun used to murder #TrayvonMartin marks a new low in capitalism

George Zimmerman is human scum. He is violent, unhinged and incompetent. He is a failure at everything in life. The only thing he ever succeeded in was murdering an innocent teenager, Trayvon Martin.

He's lived a reckless and violent life since then. He beats women, gets in violent altercations, has been banned from Twitter and now wants to profit from murder. So he wants to sell the gun he used to murder Trayvon Martin.

I don't condone violence, but I do wonder how George Zimmerman stays safe. He has to be a target for many.

The rewards of #SocialSecurityDisability law

The most rewarding thing any lawyer can do for his or her client is to obtain a good result for the client. And it is even more rewarding when the client really needs benefits or a settlement. Clients wait for years to recover what is rightfully their's whether it be a lawsuit, Social Security Disability claim, Workers Comp claim, VA claim or some other kind of case.

Today I had the pleasure of calling a Social Security Disability client to tell him he'd been awarded benefits. I've been able to do that twice this week. It is very rewarding to make these calls because it is such a long, arduous process. Clients need these benefits, and I always feel great when I can get them what they need. That's my job.

The profoundly stupid support #DonaldTrump #ConfessionsofaVampireHunter

Never have so many people supported such an idiot. Never have potential voters  been so stupid either.

I'm not sure if they will become vampires. Probably to worthless to be made vampires. If they are, however, then I will take action.

#micropoetry "The slug did his thing"

The slug moved on
a layer of slime.
And it didn't seem to bother him.

He didn't know he was a slug.
Everyone he associated with was a slug.

Why should being a slug bother him?
But no one liked all those he associated with.
And that was his problem--and their's too.

But he thought he was a good slug.
And those around him thought they were good slugs too.
Even though no one else did.

#HB2

#micropoetry "Led by a Muppet"

A Muppet leads North Carolina.
But he doesn't think he's a Muppet.
No offense to Muppets.

Someone compared him to Guy Smiley.
But Guy Smiley was suave and debonair.
Our governor is dull and empowered.
Those are two dangerous traits.

#PatMcCrory and #North Carolina sue in federal court in order to keep #HB2

You read that right. They are suing and paying hundreds of thousands in legal bills to enforce a law that is discriminatory in nature and costing the states hundreds of millions in revenue and lost jobs. But they aren't swayed back facts. They are doubling down on stupid, and they are doing more to destroy North Carolina' economy than anything since the Civil War.

Bravo, Pat and the General Assembly. You have reached a new level of stupid.

#Notyourfriend and the police

I went to Starbucks this morning as I do most days. While entering I saw a grizzled old guy who has had his share of run ins with the law. Some may have been his fault, but not all of them were. When it comes to him, that is about the only thing I am certain of––that and they guy can't own a gun due to a past felony. He's told me all this and others too.

He said to me, "I'm going to let you in on some inside information. The police killed more people last year than drugs."

I responded, "I know."

Why do police harass homeless people? #injustice

Many of my clients are homeless, and the police often harass them for no reason other than that they are homeless. I've seen the police do it, and too many of my clients report it for it to be anything other than their being targeted for appearing homeless. They are treated as subhuman. It is a lot like racial profiling.

I know the police have a tough job, but they choose to be police. They get paid for it, and that means they need to not be jerks and kick people when they ate down. Grow up or quit your job.

White trash plugs in for #DonaldTrump

Are #DonaldTrump supporters dangerous for the United States?

Violence is the mainstay of the Trump supporters. Normally I would dismiss this as part of the process, but I don't recall all this violence in past campaigns. And Trump does nothing to dissuade the violence. In fact, he incites the crowd by encouraging them to throw people out. It is disgusting. He's disgusting.

All of it makes me long for the days of traditional elections where you could still rest easy even if your person lost. At least you could have faith in the process. I'm not so sure about the process now unless it results in Trump losing and his supporters losing interest. I think they will lose interest when he loses. He can't win because he is too far out of step with mainstream America. Or at least I hope he can't win.
