Law firms should NOT have large, inefficient staffs #lawyerslife #lawpracticemanagement

Law firms are different these days. Law firms that thrive do not spend hoards of money on staff or unnecessary space. Anyone who has practiced for awhile knows historically staffs in law firms have been too large. Staff are left around because "she's a good old girl" whatever that means. It really means you are throwing money away to pay for gross inefficiencies.

Another problem is too many lawyers. Even mega firms are reconsidering the need for large numbers of partners and associates when so much of the work can be done by contract attorneys more quickly and more cheaply.

The problem can be summed up: too many staff members, too many lawyers; and not enough good staff; and not enough good lawyers.
