Claims of indigence by criminal defendants aren’t taken at face value in this county
Claims of indigence by criminal defendants aren’t taken at face value in this county. You are supposed to have a right to counsel in this country or so the Constitution says. This is true even if you cannot pay for one. Some states regularly trample on that right. This is a new permutation of the deprivation of this sacred right. The logic is: you aren't indigent, so I won't appoint you an attorney. But I won't check to see. That makes a lot of sense if you are a bubba with a gun and no brain.
