70th Anniversary of D-Day
This may be the last time soldiers from World War II make the trek to Normandy to observe the anniversary of the Allied Invasion, the greatest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare. My grandfather and three great uncles all fought in World War II. My grandfather went over later in the year and fought in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. Fortunately my grandfather and great uncles had the GI Bill when they returned home. Now, unfortunately, we don't do much for our veterans. The VA is underfunded and those who sound the trumpets of war routinely vote against funding the VA, in particular, veterans with disabilities such as PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. This is sad.
