Rare 'Perry Mason' moment in court wins dismissal for defendant, desk duty for 5 police officers

Rare 'Perry Mason' moment in court wins dismissal for defendant, desk duty for 5 police officers.  That pesky 4th Amendment.  The cumbersome exclusionary rule and the fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine really get in the way, don't they?  Some people would have you believe these constitutional principles are an impediment to justice.  Quite the contrary as they are the tools of justice.  Without safeguards we would live in a police state, and who wants that?
