Exotic dancer wins attorney fees in fight for return of $1M seized in traffic stop
Exotic dancer wins attorney fees in fight for return of $1M seized in traffic stop. $500 per hour isn't unreasonable for a California lawyer. The issue is whether it is reasonable for a Nebraska case. Given the complex nature of this business case, outside expertise was arguably necessary. Reasonable minds can disagree. $500 per hour in Nebraska is probably high normally unless you are working in Omaha for a Fortune 500 company. Here, however, the statute permits reasonable attorneys fees. This case warranted a California attorney at $500 per hour. It is irrelevant that this woman was an exotic dancer, or, if it is relevant, the probative value is very low.
